Playa del Carmen, Mexico's virtual guidebook written by locals

Cabalova is an institution in Playa del Carmen. The French owners, wacky brothers Bruno and Christian, invite you for some good partying!

Cabalova is an unusual concept - a full-on sports bar, not with greasy hamburgers, but with sushi! With the Japanese chef, Charlie, it's the real deal! A wide variety of expertly executed sushi is on the menu. Their sashimi and the nigiri sushi melt in your mouth, and there is a variety of maki sushi, besides the traditional California Roll. Pick your personal favorites, or go with one of the great combo platters and get a taste of the different thing the kitchen has to offer. The fish is of the highest quality (salmon from Norway, eel from China etc). Ask for the fresh local fish when in season!

Cabalova is also one of the most popular sports bars in town - they boast a big screen covering most of one wall, as well as four TV sets. They show all major sports events from the States and Europe - live and with English commentary, and they open early if needed.

The drinks at Cabalova are also worth mentioning; they're strong and made with love, which is extra handy on those Tuesday karaoke nights! Cabalova has the reputation of the best mojito in town, and do try the Cabalova special Sandrita - a Margarita, but with mandarin instead of lime -yummy!

Serious sports bar with strong drinks and funny French owners.
